Challenge

In seek of becoming the leader in brand activations and advanced community management on the blockchain/metaverse, I worked collaboratively with Dynamic Labs to design a distinct visual identity that would attract a wide-variety of newcomers to space including small NFT project founders, culturally relevant brands, and larger blockchain companies.

Approach

The only consultancy existing in the space at the time was… VaynerNFT. It represented a pure money-grab with generic branding and a 'Jab Jab Left Hook' approach to consulting in an undefined space where "helping businesses navigate the next era of consumerism" was somehow already figured out.

Through a bit of research and a bunch of conversations with the Dynamic team, I realized how complex the metaverse was. It felt like it's own digital universe. With this in mind, I helped create a brand identity that felt youthful, refreshing, and a bit unpredictable. One that could truly speak to the creative community and current NFT market. The core idea was to create a design system that allowed the digital art to feel present. An identity that seamlessly combined past, present, and future trends with intention.

I developed the overarching creative direction, brand strategy, visual identity, and design templates including the sales deck, social media templates and web design concepts that were handed off for final production.

Brand Immersion

I spent one week diving into the Web3 space, understanding its applications and potential. There were numerous Youtube videos, Zoom calls, and group text messages, as we were all striving to determine what's next. I complied my findings into a brand narrative and positioning strategy along with visual moodboards to help create team alignment and determine the right visual style ahead of the market.

Visual Identity

Design System

During the discovery phase, I quickly explored various graphic elements based on our trend analysis and personal taste. With the revisions, I focused on further refining our brand direction with injections of punk, net art, and fashion influences.


I structured the typography blending 90's typefaces with modern display fonts. Taking influence from 90's nostalgia and street art, I crafted a unique color palette that could integrate conceptually with graphic/UI elements and explored various motion design concepts that conveyed a newfound sense of time and space within the Metaverse. I also explored sub-branding and artwork for various podcasts and video series by utilizing font combinations distilled from the design system.

Website Design

UX/UI

I developed a series of web focused concepts that could be used as a foundational framework for final production. Within 2 weeks, I established a UI toolkit with select screens to help represent how the design language could come to life.


Since their internal team was actively working on new projects and still defining their list of services, I provided final creative direction to a 3rd party team for the design and development of the website.
